Marketing experts within the engineering industry: getting down to the nuts and bolts of your business

There’s no getting away from the current economic environment and the extreme competitive pressure to produce more customers, increase revenue, and create greater profits.

And on top of that, you’re expected to improve and promote your image and company positioning. As fewer customers mean less demand; less demand means efforts to stimulate demand (i.e. marketing) needs to be increased.

That’s why successful companies know you don’t abandon your marketing strategies in a recession; as history shows over and again, companies failing to market themselves during these times suffer loss of market share and an irreparable dip in awareness of the services they offer.

One thing is for sure, in this deeply worrying economic downturn marketing approaches have to become much smarter, using every tool possible to ensure delivery is more targeted, more personalised and more effective in engaging with customers. Brand and position yourself correctly to an unambiguous market and your success rate will increase significantly.

As one of the most experienced marketing agencies in the Midlands, Percorsi understand your products and services and the industry you operate in. Our full marketing service includes launching new products, creating corporate identities, literature production, website development and design, strategies and plans, e-marketing, as well as direct marketing campaigns.

We focus on presenting complex technical information in a language customers relate to, using stunning creative to display and promote products, and underpinning them with powerful hard-hitting words.

How to drive more customers to your website

Do you know what your customers think about your website?

One of the main ways people decide if you’re the best company to contact is the first impression they gain of your website. Properly done it should showcase your capabilities, position you in the market and engage with customers. And with so many websites clamouring for attention, it’s vital visitors find and are persuaded to click on yours. Once on the site, you need to capture and hold their attention; if you don’t ‘hook’ them within the first thirty seconds on the site, chances are you’ve lost them.

But its’ not enough to just write about what you do in the hope people will be interested, you now have to engage and connect to deliver a customer experience that encourages, motivates and inspires them to explore further. And it’s crucial you take advantage of social media networks, and use Search Engine Optimisation to see how your competitors’ websites rank compared to yours.

How does your website stack up?

• Do customers find it easy to use and navigate around?
• Does it engage and connect to deliver a customer experience?
• Is it written in a style and language that engages and inspires them?
• Is there an effective ‘hook’ on the site to motivate them to read on?
• Does your ‘call to action’ compel customers to contact you?

By getting this mix right, you’ll see your online presence soar. So, if you're serious about winning new clients you should work with Percorsi, an agency who deliver results!

New website for Children First Derby

Percorsi have just completed the design and production of a website for Children First Derby. The Derby based charity work with children and families to make a positive impact on their lives and the local community.

Children First Derby approached Percorsi to refresh their existing website. Percorsi gave the site a bright, fresh feel and also the option for the client to update news and downloadable documents.

Mike's 30 seconds of fame

We have uploaded the TV advert for DLRAA to YouTube. The advert stars Mike Dilks, 59 from Melton Mobray. His car was so badly smashed up the make and model was totally unrecognisable.

Here is Mike’s story…

“Its quite simple - they saved my life”

“Without a doubt I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance. Its quite simple – they saved my life.”

Mike collided with an articulated truck and was trapped inside his car with life threatening injuries.

Mike’s condition was very serious and he needed urgent medical attention. The crew from the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance were called to the scene to provide life saving attention.

Mike spent four agonising hours trapped in the car as emergency services cut him out. The DLRAA crew were able to stabilise his condition, and he was later air lifted to Coventry Hospital where he spent weeks in intensive care.

I have no doubt that the response time from the Air Ambulance is why I’m still here today.

Returning to the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Base in September last year and being reunited with the crew that saved my life was very emotional. Just hearing the sound of the helicopter made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Well, they do say the last thing to go is your hearing.

View Mike’s story in the video on YouTube. To see the rest of the campaign visit www.myairambulance.org or to see examples of our other work, visit our newly refreshed website at www.percorsidesign.co.uk.

JACK, MIKE & EMILY-JANE: LOCAL STARS OF THE DLRAA ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN.

Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance appointed Percorsi for specialist help in raising their profile. Percorsi have launched an innovative marketing campaign to combat the credit crunch and ensure DLRAA are able to stay flying high and saving lives.

DLRAA are a registered charity relying purely on public donations to keep this vital service saving lives and costs over £1.5 million each year. Last year over 1,250 missions were flown, averaging 4 missions a day. The team serve an area of 1.2 million people living across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The testimonial based campaign features TV adverts, billboards, emails, sms text and a direct mail piece to be distributed throughout the counties to promote the invaluable work the charity does. The concept focuses on real life rescue missions, such as 11-year-old Jack, who was rescued following a playground accident and had a very serious head injury, Mike was the star of the TV adverts, retelling his account of the horrific car crash in which he was trapped for four hours.

Emily-Jane (pictured), who suffered serious injuries in a car accident was glad to help raise the profile of DLRAA by appearing in their billboard campaign.

The importance of advertising in ‘credit crunch’ times.

An article recently published on the importance of advertising during the recession had these main arguments:

1. The golden rule is to stay in touch with your customers
2. If you are inconsistent they won’t trust you
3. If they can’t find you they will go to your competitor
4. And if they forget who you are, you’ll have to start all over again

We all know that recessions will come and go, but it is important that a client’s reputation doesn’t disappear with it. In times like this advertising and PR really demonstrate their potential. Reputation management has always been important but, now more than ever, should be the backbone for a solid marketing strategy.

Advertising will play an important role during the recession as should not be put on the backburner as a way to keep costs down. The ‘credit crunch’ doesn’t appear to be subsiding any time soon so it is absolutely critical that your business maintains its presence during these tough times. A lot of companies are in the same boat but if we stop doing business with each other that is when businesses will suffer!

Advertising your business does not necessarily mean spending a fortune; you may just need an alternative approach to traditional advertising methods. If for example you usually spend the majority of your advertising budget on paper direct mail campaigns, why not save money by opting for a targeted e-mail campaign instead? These can be just as effective and you save money on printing costs.

Use the recession to assess what you are doing and ask yourself the following questions:

• How cost-effective is your marketing?
• Could you be getting better results for the same cost?
• Are there alternative ways to reach your audience?
• Could you generate more referrals?
• What do you have in place that can be improved upon?

The recession will pass and businesses will come out the other side grateful that the hard work that their marketeers have put into their brands have helped them survive these uncertain times.

How can we help?

Percorsi will be able to highlight the potential of under utilised marketing tactics and create some new innovative techniques to help you improve your sales, leads and prospects. Our free review will help you identify new opportunities you may never have thought existed. Don't miss out and start generating permanent, powerful results.

It will cost you nothing to take advantage of this offer. Either call 01332 370022 or email info@percorsidesign.co.uk and we will be in touch to arrange a free consultancy meeting.

Design worth getting out of B&ED for!

This years winners of the coveted D&AD awards have been announced today and of all the winners, this one really caught my eye.

Most of us will have seen the new coinage in circulation but I wonder how many people realise just how clever the design is.

Each coin (with the exception of the pound coin) features a section of the sheild design (that appears in full on the £1 coin) which form an entire design when positioned together correctly.

After scrambling around for some loose change I found all the coins in the collection and made my very own sheild!

Twitters and Blogs

Percorsi have today joined the social networking site Twitter. You can follow us here http://twitter.com/Percorsi

It seems that marketing is taking on a whole new form with the advent of social networking websites such as Twitter. The micro-blogging concept appears to be an excellent platform for self-promotion and networking so we are jumping on the bandwagon and giving it a go.

We have also added a nifty little Twitter gadget to our blog which updates all of our "tweets" so there's no excuse for not knowing what we are up to!

Ideas on the toilet

People often have great ideas while sitting on the loo, according to new research which shows that the bathroom antics of Britons are anything but bog standard.

A poll of 500 adults by coach operator National Express revealed that answering the call of nature could be the most productive part of a person's day.

More than two-thirds said they dreamed up great ideas, while others read a book, wrote a shopping list, played video games or even learned a foreign language.
